Dream Saved Me

Some years ago, I had a very vivid dream. In the dream, my youngest Aunt was driving a car that looked just like my grandmother’s car on the inside and I was in the passenger’s seat and my Mother and Grandmother were in the back seat. We were driving down this unfamiliar, steep, winding, red rock road, in the dark. We came around a blind corner and all of a sudden, someone was in our lane. My Aunt swerved to avoid them and we went off the road and rolled several times down the hill. I turned to my Aunt and asked if she was OK, she was and we checked on the two in the back seat and they were OK as well. That's where the dream ended.

About a month later, I found out my oldest Aunt was getting married in Moab, Utah. My youngest Aunt, my Mother, Grandmother and myself were to fly into Salt Lake City, rent a car and drive the rest of the way. When we arrived at the car rental place, we got a car that was the exact same make and model and year as my Grandmother’s and my youngest Aunt was driving. As soon as we got in, and I saw that it looked identical to my grandmother’s and realized the seating arrangement, my red flags went up. My Aunt saw that something was wrong and asked me if I was OK. I said yes. It was early morning, still day light, so I said nothing.

The road to Moab was flat and we arrived when it was still daylight, so again, I wasn't worried. The next day, my oldest Aunt was married in the early morning in Arches National Park. Red rocks, all around, but no steep winding roads. After the ceremony, my new Uncle wanted to go up to a certain point to take photos. He and my oldest Aunt went in their car, and my youngest aunt, my Grandmother, Mother and I went in the rental.


As we got closer to our destination, I saw the winding, steep red rock road. We then turned up it. I guess my face went pale, because my Aunt again asked if I was alright. I asked her how long we planned to stay there. She said that my Uncle wanted to photograph the sunset. I asked her if we could come down well before sunset and she asked why. I told her of my dream and without question, she said, "For sure...I trust your instincts".

That dream saved me and my family from a very traumatic event.
